6:30-6:45: Set up & introductions
Art Experiences is an art class with a difference. Learn all you want to learn about art, but have fun first. Life is full of "must-do" challenges. Learning how to draw is also a challenge, but you can choose to do it just for the experience. Contemplating shapes and the relationships between shapes activates the right side of the brain wherein lies peace. Each person who attends Art Experiences is an explorer into the realms of the right side of the brain.
Art Activity: Actually, Negatives DO Make Positives!
Materials: A 6B pencil, drawing pad 16x20 or larger, newsprint pad or a pile of economy copy paper for the warm up. Drawing board. Bring your own supplies or pay a $2.00 fee to have supplies provided. If you want to own your own supplies, Pat Catan's (corner of Broadway and Rockside) is a source, or you can purchase from me. Marker ID your personal supplies.
6:45 to 7:00 Round-robin warm up with 30 second gesture drawings using 6B graphite pencils to activate the right brain.
7:00 DEMONSTRATION
7:15 to 8:00 Draw only the spaces between things!! We are not interested in how it looks. It is the exercise of seeing and drawing the spaces that is important.
8:00 to 8:15 Break. Post the drawings. Talk about your experiences.
8:15 to 8:45 Do one or more drawings of your choice of subject(s) from the bins, using your choice of drawing materials.
8:45 to 9:00 Walk around to see what everyone is doing. Group discussions.
9:00 to 9:30 Finish drawings. Quick walk around to see final results.
Wrap up: 9:30 to 10:00 Final discussions, pack up, clean up, pay up, vacate.
